Who we are
Taxiwala Australia is a registered business name operated by a sole trader based in Melbourne, Victoria. It is not a company. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean the sole trader who operates Taxiwala Australia.
What we collect
When you request a booking on this website we collect:
- your name and mobile number
- your pickup address and, if you use the map, the location of your pin
- your drop-off location
- the date and time you need the taxi
- for airport trips, the number of passengers and your flight number if you give it
We do not ask for payment details on this website.
Why we collect it
We use your information to arrange your trip, to contact you to confirm or change your booking, to pick you up at the right place and time, and to keep the trip records that commercial passenger vehicle businesses in Victoria are required to keep. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for marketing.
How your information is handled
This website uses a few outside services to work:
- Web3Forms receives your booking form and emails it to us. Web3Forms may keep a copy of the submission for a limited period.
- Google Maps provides the address search and map. When you type an address or move the pin, that information is sent to Google. If you choose "Use my current location", your browser shares your location only after you allow it.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and may record standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type for security and performance.
These providers may store data outside Australia. Each has its own privacy policy.
We only share your details with others where it is needed to provide your trip, or where the law requires it (for example, a request from Safe Transport Victoria or the police).
How long we keep it
We keep booking and trip records for as long as we need them to provide the service and to meet our record-keeping obligations, which for trip records is generally three years. After that we delete them.
Cookies
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Google Maps and Cloudflare may set cookies that are needed for their services to work.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by calling or texting 0468 317 909. We will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to keep some records where the law requires it.
Questions or complaints
If you have a question or a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first on 0468 317 909. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
